How long does the course last ?
Before the beginning of a TOEFL Preparption course all participants take a practice TOEFL Test to determine their level, their weaknesses, and their test-taking abilities. Based on their results the weaker participants are offered a Pre-Preparation course of between 30 and 60 hours of class contact time, depending on their needs.

What does the course consist of?
The TOEFL Pre-Preparation course is a General English course using American English as the standard and focusing on improving communication skills, vocabulary and knowledge of idiomatic expressions in a communicative/functional framework, while also developing the grammatical structures necessary to be successful on the TOEFL Test.

What is the TOEFL?
The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) evaluates the English proficiency of people whose native language is not English. Most U.S. universities require that international applicants take the TOEFL. Generally a score of 61 to 80 on the Internet-based TOEFL (iBT), 173 to 250 on the computer-based version, or 500 to 550 on the paper-based version is required for admission to undergraduate and graduate programs in the United States, with graduate schools expecting the higher scores.

TOEFL iBT is a four-hour test with content to assess reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills.

What does American Language Institute Temara offer as preparation for the TOEFL?
TOEFL is the Test of English as a Foreign Language and in order to be successful, with a 500, 550 or 600 score, students generally understand that they need a study course prepared and implemented by a skilled teacher. As part of a long-term strategy, the TOEFLcourses in our premises will introduce you to the vocabulary, grammar, and test-taking skills necessary to achieve good results on the TOEFL Test. In fact, the newest TOEFL Test, the Internet-Based Test (IBT), is four hours long and very challenging. You need an extensive vocabulary, excellent listening skills, a good knowledge of a variety of academic subjects and situations, and the proper test-taking strategies. In addition to this, you need practice with the different types of test questions - extensive practice.

What about my scores?
Your official scores will be mailed from the United States about four weeks after the test. Please allow time for them to arrive by international mail.

If you need score reports to be sent to additional institutions, please complete the form in the TOEFL bulletin and return it with payment to ETS. If paying by credit card, you may also call ETS at (609) 771-7267 to order additional score reports. Scores are valid for two years.
